XV Euroasiatic international Economic Forum of Verona, Baku 27 e 28 October 2022
the fifteenth Eurasian Verona forum took place in Baku Azerbaigian capital
The forum was attended by an important and qualified representation of entrepreneurs, trade associations, Italian journalists ,prominent figures in the political, economic, industrial and energy sectors of the Red Federation and Azerbai. In total, representatives from more than 37 countries participated in the work in presence or remotely. I add to the face of the international isolation of the Russian Federation.
The forum was organized by the association conoscere Eurasia and its president Antonio Fallico. In addition to knowing Eurasia the organizers of the event were Roscongress, the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaian Sponsors of the initiative are the Russian oil company Rosneft, Gazprom Bank Region, lei
The work developed over two days of intense meetings that dealt with central issues in relation to the geopolitical and economic challenges that the current international situation is presenting to us.
Very interesting works, from the very first presentation session of the Forum, with a prestigious presence and very high level of speakers. Among them are Shakin MustafaevEv Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, ale Over and Over Overchuck deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, MicahailabbAbbarov Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaian
The working sessions were held at a tight and tight pace, the first very interesting was entitled the new reality of the raw materials and energy markets was moderated by AleanderAnder Dy Nkin president of the Institute of World economy international relations and Alessandro Cassieri correspondent of RAI .
Particularly interesting was the speech of Igor Sechin, CEO, chairman of the management board and deputy chairman of the Board of Directors of Rosneft. Particularly interesting because he illustrated with great precision the lines of behavior, the objectives of the government of the Russian Federation clearly highlighting the objective of accelerating and consolidating the process of transformation of the world economy from a globalized neoliberal economy has a regionalized economy with man at the center and a different approach towards national states, based on respect and reciprocity . Then an entire session was devoted to humanism.
Sechin expressed Russian concerns and strong criticism of the behavior of Western governments , emphasizing their total subjection to neocon policies, Anglo-Saxons and illustrating the Western economic and political suicide linked to the application of sanctions.
Both in the presence sessions and in the remote interventions, there have been interventions in total agreement with this interpretation.
The representative for example of the most important Indian energy company, or Indian ministers of the Republic of Mongolia, Kazakhstan have essentially reiterated the same concepts and the unwillingness to respond and obey Western diktats in relation to the identification of different national interests.
A close and increasingly strong spirit of cooperation has emerged between the Government of Azerbaijan and the government of the Russian Federation, for example for the development of communication and transport corridors that facilitate operations in the Caucasus by creating a north-south channel of communication and freight passage . The creation of such joint structures will presumably lead to the easing of geopolitical tensions in the region, despite US pressure for an aggravation of the situation.
The political and economic representatives of the Russian Federation see a future from an economic and political point of view linked to equal cooperation between countries.
One point on which we noted different accents and approaches between Azerbaijani speakers and speakers from other countries at the Forum was in relation to the evaluation and prospects of the green transformation of energy sources.
A specific section was dedicated to the topic, among other things very interesting also from a technical point of view but while Azerbaijani officials have repeatedly referred to the green transformation policy in order to proceed to an energy independence on a green basis of the country and therefore be able to export a greater quantity of fossil resources (personally I found this position not only weak but also lacking concrete bases in support) the other countries have instead discussed and strongly criticized the setting of energy policies related to the green Revolution.
Specifically, while considering everyone indispensable and totally necessary a greater attention to the environment, they have referred to economic convenience but also to the possibility and ability of the transformation, for example, of gas into hydrogen for the production of green energies as an ecologically and economically sustainable choice. It has been repeated that gas is one of the least polluting energy sources and therefore this transformation in order not to produce disasters in Western societies and not only must take place with a very careful attention to the sustainability of the choices made and proposed.
The agreements that have been signed both previously and on the sidelines of the conference between Iran Russia and Azerbaijan are important for the development of relations and further development as we said on a different axis of the silk Road with an increase in communication networks with Iran
Ale Over I Overchuk Russian deputy Prime Minister gave an indication of why the forum was not held in Verona, this happened first of all because many of the Russian government officials if not all present at the initiative as well as journalists and others and entrepreneurs are subject to sanction so it is impossible for him to participate in a meeting in Europe. Given the situation, the choice of Azerbaijan was also made in relation to the desire to develop a bridge between Azerbaian
He also insisted a lot that we are witnessing the beginning of a transformation in the direction of the of a world that changes its centrality and thus begins an equal relationship from north to south. The corridors In Pakistan, India, Turkmenistan, Pakistan and Iran are huge projects . I would add that our rulers and our media who talk insistently about the isolation of the Russian Federation should look carefully at the result of these works to realize that at a stage like this it is not the Russian Federation that is economically isolated and in fact politically isolated, but the West.
we also discussed the issue of fertilizers, for example, fertilizers lie in large quantities in the deposits of the Baltic countries which in fact with their absurd policy are creating a series of very big problems regarding the probable continuation and a possible aggravation of the food crisis . After the forum there was the Ukrainian attack on Russian civilian and military ships that guaranteed the passage and transport of grain from Ukrainian ports to other countries. Surely the Russians will continue the grain trade on their own and will use wheat as a diplomatic political weapon to strengthen relations with the poorest countries in the world.
All these indications make it clear that we are not witnessing transformations linked to short-term contingencies but a radical transformation of the economy and the creation of rules increasingly linked to this transformation and freed from the Western model.
The intervention of Igor Sechin from Rofsnet was particularly interesting . In addition to reading a welcome message from President Putin, who I remember did not speak at the forum because he was engaged in a contemporary summit in Altai in which he made a particularly important speech, he emphasized the transformation of the unipolar world towards a multipolar world by strongly reiterating the positions of the Russian Federation .
The financial aspect has also been discussed for a long time and therefore the need in relation to sanctions, for example to the Sift
The debate has been very interesting with different proposals, for example the creation of a new international monetary fund based on equal currencies and no longer only on the centrality of the dollar and therefore a progressive abandonment of the dollar.
References to countries that will presumably enter shortly within the Brics and to the further expansion of the SCO, In this perspective and not only there was talk of Egypt , Serbia , Mongolia, the UAE and Saudi Arabia itself.
